HTC M8 Prime, HTC One mini 2 handset names step into the spotlight

Those meeting a close eye on the HTC M8 Ace rumors may have yet another device to track over the next few months. @evleaks has revealed that a handset by the name of the M8 Prime may soon be stepping into the spotlight and it might just pull all the attention away from the M8 Ace.

We do not have any details do accompany the new code name, but let’s not forget that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 SoC is expected to power new flagship devices in the second half of 2014. The Snapdragon 801 which used inside of the HTC one (M8) is still quite new, but it’s essentially the same 800 chip that Qualcomm brought to market in the fall of 2013 with a slight bump in CPU and GPU speed and better memory management. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 will sport the new 2.7GHz quad-core Krait 450 and a much more powerful Adreno 420 GPU which has a clock speed that’s 24% higher than the Adreno 330 inside the Snapdragon 801.

And then we have the HTC One mini 2 which @evleaks claims another name for the HTC One (M8) mini which is rumored to launch sometime in May. The handset is expected to be a direct replacement for the HTC One mini from 2013 with a quad-core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 with a 4.5-inch 720p display, 1GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 13 megapixel main camera, 5 megapixel front-facing camera, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, Android 4.4.2 (KitKat), Sense 6.0 and on-screen buttons. We were hoping for a consistent naming scheme across HTC’s One lineup, but that may not come to fruition with the HTC One mini 2.
