HTC may be laser focused on promoting the HTC One (M8) in Europe and North America, but the company has announced a new product on the complete opposite end of the spectrum – the HTC Desire 210. The new phone is HTC’s take on a budget-friendly device, making it one of the cheapest devices ever to be listed in HTC’s lineup. The Desire 210 isn’t going to pick up any design awards, but the soft-touch finish and unique camera cutout on the back of the phone show that HTC is still investing the time to deliver quality products.
The HTC Desire 210 sports a 1GHz dual-core MediaTek (MT6572M) processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, 4-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) display and dual-SIM support. It’s definitely at the very bottom of HTC’s lineup, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing when you consider its price – Rs. 8,700 ($143 USD). On the surface, the HTC Desire 210 is an inferior product when compared to the Motorola Moto G which carries a suggested retail price of $180 in the US, but the price somehow got lost in translation when the phone made its way to India. For some reason, Motorola is selling the Moto G for Rs. 13,999 in India ($230 USD) – making HTC’s Desire 210 a much more compelling option.
