Budget-friendly HTC Desire 610 heading to AT&T

It looks like the newly-announced HTC Desire 610 will be adding North America to its market availability list. We do not know when the handset will go on sale here in the US, but @evleaks has just shared that the HTC Desire 610 will be heading to AT&T. During Mobile World Congress, HTC stated that it would be launching a broader product portfolio in the mid-range segment – giving consumers HTC product alternatives if they can’t afford HTC’s flagship device or simply do not care about having the best device on the market.

The specs on the HTC Desire 610 include a 4.7-inch 960 x 540 display, 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1GB of RAM, 2,040mAh battery,  8 megapixel camera on the back with f/2.4 aperture, front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera, 8GB of internal storage, microSD expansion (up to 64GB), front-facing BoomSound stereo speakers, nano-SIM support and LTE radio. On paper, the HTC Desire 610 is inferior to the HTC One mini which showed up at AT&T last August with a $99.99 price tag. Since the Desire series is intended to be a value brand (and the cast that a successor to the HTC One mini is in the works), the HTC Desire 610 shouldn’t be listed for more than $50 with a two-year contract.
