With only two months left to wrap up 2013, we’re hoping you’re not surprised to hear that rumors of the HTC One’s successor are starting to make headlines. So far, rumors have suggested that the device’s code name is HTC M8 (seems fitting since the HTC One’s code name was HTC M7) and that it will be the first handset in HTC’s lineup to run HTC Sense 6. While little else is currently known about the HTC M8, a few leaked pictures have recently surfaced, claiming to show the back metal panel of the device.
The low resolution pictures are not very clear, but we can make out that the metal features a blue finish (similar to the vivid blue HTC One) and a second hole above the camera. The source of the images thinks the second hole may be used for an additional camera, but it would also be the perfect placement for a fingerprint scanner – replicating the functionality currently available on the HTC One max. The basic design of the HTC M8 rear metal panel does look very similar to that of the HTC One, but there is a clear distinction along the edges. While the HTC One featured a zero-gap plastic injection, the images of the new device show that the metal panel spills over the edges as well, creating a unibody look similar to that of the HTC One X.
If the current HTC M8 rumors and pictures do turn out to be true, we’re expecting the device to be a great successor to this year’s HTC One. We’re not expecting HTC to unveil the HTC M8 any sooner than February of 2014, so we’re got nearly four month of rumors, leaks and speculation ahead of us.
Sit back and enjoy the ride!

Yep, gone is that machined-lip so distinctive on the HTC ONE. I hope this works out for HTC.
Seems like it would be another good-looking device. They need to continue to push their marketing. Still, I worry about HTC’s future, as Samsung’s already announced their intentions for flexible phones by 2015. Of course, that’s very far down the line in technology time, but I do hope HTC has something in the works that can beat flexible screens or match it.
The RDJ advertisements are not cutting it. They are strange and really useless. Now RDJ as ironman (or even Sherlock Holmes) and we are talking.
Still way to early to judge. I remember there were multiple designs for M7 and one of them was plastic.
same design, snapdragon s800 wich will be arleady old in 2 months, nobody will look for HTC anymore…I love HTC One, I have it, but I want a diffrent story next year or I will stick with the One, I don’t same design with slight optimization…get back to work HTC and make good smartphones with 5″-5.2″ screen, max 1,8mm bazels, other improved design, 8 ultrapixel camera or 16mp camera, 3500mha battery, 64gb internal storage, or 32/64 but with card slot, better stereo sound and keep the same good software.
