HTC: Droid DNA to get Android 4.4 update in Q1, HTC One update rollout still on track

HTC is keeping the software update conversation open, revealing that the HTC Droid DNA on Verizon will be joining in on the KitKat party. HTC’s Twitter account has revealed that the Droid DNA will be updated to Android 4.4 by the end of Q1 2014. As of now, the Droid DNA is expected to receive its Android 4.3 update with Sense 5 before the end of the year.

The delayed Android 4.3 update for the Verizon HTC One will be rolled out with two separate updates. Starting this week, a compatibility update will be pushed out the phone, followed by the actual Android 4.3 update starting in December. HTC and Verizon are not yet willing to reveal the exact date in December, but we’re hoping the phone will get the update before the DNA does. While the 4.3 update for the Verizon HTC One is already a few weeks late, HTC claims that the Android 4.4 update (which was promised for delivery by the end of January 2014) is still on track.

And finally, the Android 4.4 update news skips across the pond to the UK. HTC is currently working with local carriers on the Android 4.4 update and is planning to push out the first updates the carrier branded HTC One handsets by the end of January.

It’s nice to see that HTC is working hard to make sure the HTC One is running the latest version of Android, but we’re getting a little anxious as we wait to hear if HTC’s flagship phones from 2012 will receive the same treatment. It would be a real shame if the HTC One X, One X+, EVO 4G LTE and Butterfly are abandoned less than 18 months after their release.
