Over the past few weeks we’re heard rumors that HTC is working on a new operating system, custom designed for the Chinese market. We do not know if the new OS is based on Android or something more in tune with the custom Brew MP built HTC introduced with the Smart a few years back.
A newly leaked image has now been associated with HTC’s new OS, giving us a look at what the UI may look like. If the image is real, the new operating system may not look that much different than what HTC introduced with Sense 5. The home screen appears to be a collection of widgets and icons which take styling cues from BlinkFeed. Since we do not know what HTC plans to release the OS, it’s hard to know if we’re looking at an early build or something that’s nearly ready for launch.
Do you think a custom OS on HTC’s phones for the Chinese market will help them reduce production costs enough for them to gain a strong foothold and allow them to grow their presence in the region?
