Today, HTC announced unaudited consolidated revenue for August 2013 of NT$13.2bn, numbers which are 45% lower from a year earlier. At the current rate, analysts are not expecting HTC to hits its NT$50 billion to NT$60 billion forecast for the third quarter of 2013 and some are predicting that HTC will end then entire year with a full-year loss. While posting a full-year loss is not uncommon in the mobile industry, it would be a first for HTC as the company has yet to post a quarterly loss since the company opened its doors.
With the HTC One mini now on sale in Europe, Asia and the US and the HTC One finally available on Verizon, maybe HTC can regain a bit of momentum and finish off Q3 in the black. Keep your finger crossed (and don;t forget to recommend HTC to everyone you know who’s looking for a new phone).
