The HTC Mini+ is a multi-feature accessory, acting as a standalone Bluetooth 2.1 headset, complete with a small screen for caller ID and numeric keypad for dialing and composing text messages. The device also doubles as a presentation remote, complete with laser pointer and even an IR blaster. While the HTC One has an IR blaster built into its power button, HTC’s other Android phones will be able to download HTC’s IR app and use the Mini+ to control their TV and set top boxes. The official price of the HTC Mini+ has not been announced, but third-party retailers are pricing the HTC accessory for around $80.
HTC Fetch may not look as elegant at the HTC Mini+, but it’ll probably be a much more useful accessory for those who own HTC phones. The HTC Fetch is a small square which connects to your key chain and pairs with your phone over Bluetooth. The intent of the device is to alert you if you lose your phone. Step out of Bluetooth range (roughly 15 meters) with the HTC Fetch attached to your keys and the device will alert you until a connection is reestablished. HTC Fetch will also geo cache its location at regular intervals so that it can be located even after its battery has died. As with the HTC One mini+, HTC has not revealed the price of the Fetch yet, but retails seem to think that $50 is the perfect asking price for the device.
We’re glad that HTC is working on accessories to expand the functionality of its phones. Devices like the HTC Fetch are a life saver for those who constantly look their phone or key. We just hope HTC has a good strategy to get these new products into retails and carrier partner stores to sell alongside their phones.
