The HTC One is possibly the most elegant phone on the market today, but that brilliant design comes with a drawback from the community; it’s hard to open this baby up. Many sites that tear equipment apart for fun and post about their experience of turning fine pieces of equipment into piles of junk have deemed the HTC One difficult to take apart.
Engadget probed an HTC exec personally in charge of the design team for the HTC One about the tough time people are having when trying to take the phone apart and his answer was this:
“During the development [of the One], there was another team inside HTC who looked at the repair process,” and “So every phone sent to HTC, they have a special tool to disassemble the back cover, to let us have the ability to access all the components inside.”
Justin Huang implied the solution to taking the HTC One apart is an elegant process, but would not recommend people try it. Our suggestion too is to leave this task up to those that have the right tools to separate the back without scratching the aluminum finish on this beautiful phone.
