Some buzz around the internet today implied that HTC had changed its plans to release the HTC One Android 4.2 update that we have already seen leaked on the internet. A mobile network company in the UK sent a tweet claiming HTC actually pulled the firmware from their grasp without explanation and was no longer planning to release the latest build.
This accusation may have been a little rash as our source has reached out to HTC and was able to get them to confirm the release is still coming. That good news aside, there’s no timeline for us to go by and if HTC did in fact pull this firmware that means it could be a while before customers get their hands on the official download.

Stepping outside of the box for a minute, I think this firmware release could be passed on if you ask me and if HTC did overlook Android 4.2 that would mean we would be more likely to see an update to Key Lime Pie faster and at least one other update after that. If you haven’t read our review of what is to be expected of the latest Jelly Bean release then take a look at this:
Honestly, the biggest thing I would miss would be the six new themes in the gallery that puts your selected photos and videos into a cool slideshow with unique transitions and effects. If it came down to it, I would root my phone and look into a custom ROM with the leaked software that is already in pretty good working order.

Well this sort of demonstrates HTC’s attitude to support.
I am still languishing with Android 3.2.1 on my HTC Flyer tablet!
