Official: HTC One Nexus experience to go on sale June 26th via Google Play

It’s official! The HTC One Nexus experience is real and will be available on June 26th for $599.99 through Google Play. Details are still scarce, but HTC has confirmed that the HTC One Nexus experience will be available in silver with 32GB of internal storage and will ship with stock Android 4.2.2 with future updates coming directly from Google. Hints of an HTC One with stock Android appeared during Google IO and were followed up with more details late last week.

While we’d prefer a penta-band HTC One Nexus, the hardware looks to be identical to the HTC One Developer Edition which fully supports AT&T’s GSM and LTE network (HSPA/WCDMA: 850/1900/2100 MHz, GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, LTE: 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz (US)).  The HTC One Nexus experience will support HSPA and LTE connectivity in markets where the 1900 MHz spectrum has been re-farmed.

While we love the idea of a stock Android HTC One, we’re probably going to stick with the original HTC One. Many people may not like HTC Sense and its tweaks, but the software on the device are what make the HTC One so unique. Without the HTC camera app, gallery and Beats Audio integration, the HTC One Nexus experience will be no different than an unlocked HTC One with a flashed stock ROM.

What’s your take on the HTC One Nexus experience? Is having the latest and greatest version of Android more important than having the best hardware and software experience?

    1. Yea, I don’t really get it myself, but it’s definitely a barrier to entry for some people.
