Putting Zoe and other camera features on the HTC One to good use

Many of you in the US will be receiving your new HTC One today and everyone has heard about the amazing camera features that will soon be in your hands so we want to highlight an article recently posted on the HTC Blog with some tips and tricks for creating good media with the HTC One.

First of all, HTC has changed directions and is heading away from the megapixel race that many other manufacturers are competing in for highest pixel count. The rear camera on the HTC One actually has a maximum capability of shooting at 4 MP’s, but each pixel is larger than a traditional pixel to allow for more natural light. This gives the HTC One a slight edge in situations when the lights are low, but a flash will over-compensate for the lighting issue.

HTC introduces us to a new feature called HTC Zoe. When in Zoe mode a 3 second video is captured for every press of the shutter button. The camera is actively listening while in this mode and will include the second before you press the button and the next 2 seconds. This brings your photos live in the gallery and allows others to relive your experience more than before with just a photo when sharing.

There’s more to a Zoe than just a short 3 second video. Within this media file there are approximately 20 images that will help you find the best shot for those instances when your subject blinks or turns their head. You can also stitch a sequence shot together. Say you take a Zoe of moving target and afterwards you can select several of the frames to include in a single image to share with your friends.

For those times when you know that you don’t want to create a sequence shot, Eric the author of the post on HTC’s Blog suggests adding slight movements to your HTC Zoe’s to give good transitions between shots. He says to start moving before you press the onscreen shutter button to get the best effect.

We want you to start off on the right foot with your fancy new HTC One and we hope that you will stop by and share your Zoe’s with us. Jump over to the source blog to see more details of Eric’s time with the HTC One.
