Following the official HTC One statement regarding the delays retail launch of the HTC One in North America, HTC President Jason Mackenzie, sent out an email to personally apologize to the U.S. customers who hard pre-registered to purchase the phone through the company’s $100 HTC One upgrade promotion.
The email did not contain any new details regarding the eventual launch of the HTC One or why it has been delayed, but Jason did briefly mention that the number of people who pre-registered for the HTC One numbered in the “several hundred thousand” range. Yes, the number is fairly broad and is definitely not on par with what we might expect from Samsung or Apple, but lets keep in mind that HTC is technically not promoting the HTC One in the United States yet.
The number shows that there’s a strong consumer interest in the HTC One which could make the device HTC’s most popular phone or all time. Well… if they can ever get it to market.
I’d like to personally thank you for your interest in making the new HTC One your next smartphone. The early response to this phone has been fantastic. We are seeing our strongest initial response for any smartphone we’ve ever designed with several hundred thousand people in the US pre-registering to purchase the new HTC One. We are honored and humbled by your enthusiasm. Thank you!
At HTC. we stand behind our mission to produce the world’s greatest smartphones. We’ve reinvented the entire process of smartphone production, and each new HTC One requires a total of 220 minutes – nearly four hours – to create. Click here to view the new One’s detailed creation process. Our product development team has put their hearts and souls into the new HTC One, and I can tell you that after using this phone for the past few months, it is truly impressive. Those who have had the opportunity to use it have had similar reactions. Early reports from press have also been fantastic.
We know you want to get the new HTC One in your hands as soon as possible and are working hard to make that happen. We are currently manufacturing the new HTC One and arranging delivery dates with our US carrier and retail partners. When we originally announced the new HTC One, we communicated a March availability date but we unfortunately will not meet this date in the US. We now expect to roll out the new HTC One in North America before the end of April.
We apologize for this delay and are confident that you will find that the new HTC One will be well worth the wait. Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience.
All the best
Well whatever happens, i’ll be picking one up. But they really dug themselves a hole with the botched launch. They’re going to be directly competing with the GS4 launch later in the month and its media hype machine. I hope they can at least have a branding to be identified with at the end of this, because the GS4 hype with kick into overdrive the closer it gets to launch. I just hope HTc is prepared because they’re going to need all the help and exposure they can get.
I can’t wait for this phone. I have HTC ONE S right now and love it… I will be picking up.
