Despite countless denials from Facebook, the rumors around the mysterious Facebook phone keep on popping up. While we are not really sure what would constitute a Facebook phone and how it would be different than any other Android device on the market, the latest rumors has pegged the device as the HTC Myst. According to the report, the HTC Myst will not be a high-end device that will compete with the likes of the HTC M7 or Samsung’s latest flagship Galaxy phone. The Myst specs are said to include a Qualcomm MSM8930 S4 dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a 4.3-inch 720p display.
The last time HTC tried to introduce a set of Facebook phones (HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa), things really didn’t go to well. Both devices featured a dedicated Facebook button which allowed users to create custom status updates based on what they were currently doing on their phone (taking a picture, listening to music, watching a video). While the concept was OK, the devices were slow and could not compete with higher-end devices with faster processors and better cameras. If the rumored specs of the HTC Myst are unchanged, we think Facebook will have a hard time competing with the likes of Samsung and Apple.
