After months of rumors and speculation, the HTC One has finally been unveiled! HTC took the stage in London and New York to show off its new device to the world. Most of the details we’ve covered since December were spot on, but there are some subtle differences which make the HTC One even better than what we were hoping for.
The HTC One is made of an aluminum shell. The device weighs 143 grams and measures 137.4 x 68.2 x 9.3mm/4mm (max/min). As expected the HTC One sports a 4.7 inch, Full HD 1080p with a 468 PPI. Powering the device is Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, clocked at 1.7GHz with 2GB of RAM, couples with 32 or 64GB of internal storage. The device is equipped with the usual sensors (gyro sensor, accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor), NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX enabled, infrared port (for media center remote control system), LTE, DLNA, MHL and Wi-Fi: IEEE 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n and a 2300 mAh batte
While the handset itsle is powerful, the HTC One’s camera stands head and shoulders above the competition. Rather than competing with other OEMs in the megapixel race, HTC has chosen to go the opposite route and focus on the quality of the images rather than size. HTC’s new ImageChip uses their new Ultrapixels technology which enables the HTC One to capture 300 percent more light than a traditional smartphone imaging sensor. In order to ensure the sensor gets as much light as possible, HTC is using an F2.0 aperture, 28 mm lens. Image output of the HTC One is capped at only 4 megapixels, but HTC is betting that the images produced with the phone will be a lot clearer than images produced by competing smartphones.
The HTC One will also be the first smartphone to feature dual frontal stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers. HTC is coupling the front-facing stereo speakers with Beats Audio and an HD microphone for improved audio quality while placing phone calls.
On the software front, the HTC One is running on Android Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5 and a new suite of social media and video editing software. HTC BlinkFeed is able to pull in news and social media information from over 1400 sources, organizing them in a grib on the HTC One’s home screen. After launch, HTC will be opening up the service to other application developers so that their can app their own content to BlinkFeed as well. HTC Zoe is the company’s new video experience which is able to incorporate images and HD video into short 3 second snippets. Users can then create 30 second clips with professional grade transitions and effects. HTC is hoping the new feature catches on and creates a whole new way for users to create and share video.
HTC did not go into details about when the HTC One will be showing up in retail stores, but they did mention that they are shooting for a March release on T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T. Previous reports indicate that the HTC One would go on sale March 8th in the Europe and March 24th in the U.S. for $199 with a two year contract.

Did HTC Surround not have the amps, or is this sentence wrong?
Slightly disappointed it doesn’t have qi charging feature…bummer! Hey, I noticed the One does come in red colour in Australia but lacks LTE… Bummer! Guess I’ll be sourcing mine from Asia (to use in Oz… How ironic)… But no red… Bummer again!
only 4.1.2 android at open? so when expecting htc update policy it may see 4.2 after a year maybe? my sensation has more current android by now :-/ Lack of wireless charging in premium phone is disappointing. Rest looks very promising
Just too big for me.
What else are HTC launching at MWC? Something Sensation sized?
It’s also far too expensive

I am in deep love with this phone.
Having held one in store yesterday, whilst the grey looks very nice, I was very underwhelmed.
Whilst not as plastic as the S3 I’ve just been given with work, it does feel cheap compared to earlier HTC I’ve owned.
Not sure on the polycarbonate casing. But then some idiot who was claiming to be a tech know it all was soon slapped down that it wasn’t an iPhone but the new HTC one!
Wife couldn’t control herself and was laughing. Even she read the “Pre-order your HTC One today” signage all around it!
This was in a phones4u. I think carphone warehouse have some too?
