After releasing the HTC Butterfly in Japan, Australia, Myanmar, China, Taiwan and several other Asian countries, it look like HTC may finally be ready for a much wider distribution around the globe. According to the latest reports, the HTC Butterfly is slated to launch in India and Japan in the near future. The HTC Butterfly will be priced at INR 44,000 in India ($817 USD) and RUR 27,990 in Russia ($925). The price of the HTC Butterfly in both countries is a bit higher than what we’d be willing to pay, but smartphones there typically carry a substantial premium due to import and sales taxes which are built into the cost of the device.
While the trend shows that the HTC Butterfly is inching its way westward, we do not believe that HTC has any plans on releasing the phone in Europe. If the HTC M7 rumors are true, HTC is already ramping up production of the device for a late Q1 launch in Europe and North America. Since internal specifications of the HTC Butterfly and the M7 are very similar, it would be pointless to launch the Butterfly in a market which would be getting the M7 in 10 weeks or less.

Is there any word on whether the Butterfly will be heading to the UK & other parts of Europe?
