HTC’s Windows Phone 8X pricing and launch dates announced

At the closing of Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 event this morning, Steve Ballmer took the stage and announced when all the new Windows Phone 8 devices will hit the market. The U.S. launch of the Windows Phone 8X will kick off on November 14th with the device’s launch. T-Mobile will be selling the HTC 8X with 16GB of internal storage for $149.99 with a two year contract. Verizon’s Windows Phone 8X with 16GB of internal storage will sell for $199. The exact launch date is still not set, but they have confirmed that it will be available by Thanksgiving. The AT&T launch of the HTC 8X is even more vague. All we know is that the HTC 8X will go on sale in November. The price of the AT&T HTC 8X is still unknown, which we find a bit off since Best Buy’s been taking $99 pre-orders for the 8GB model for some time now.

Surprisingly, the HTC 8S is still nowhere to be found. According to HTC’s initial press release, the HTC 8S is expected to launch on Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. Since all three carriers have multiple Windows Phone 8 device scheduled for launch in November, we expect that they are simply staggering the launch so that they can give each device a bit of breathing room on store shelves. Besides, would anyone really pass up the HTC 8X for the 8S?

  1. I don’t know. Remember Nokia is an excellent company. Judging from past experience I remember Nokia phones to have excellent reception and produce very high quality, and solid devices.
