HTC’s Q3 revenue drops 48%, still manages to rake in $133 million in profits

As we reported two weeks ago, HTC’s numbers for Q3 are not going to surprise anyone. HTC has released is audited earnings report for the third quarter featuring revenues of NT$70.2 billion ($2.4 billion) with NT$3.9 billion ($133 million) in profits. While HTC may still be in the black, those numbers are significantly lower than the $3 billion (NT$91.04 billion) in revenue and $247 million (NT$7.40 billion) net income HTC posted in Q2 of this year and a 48 percent drop in revenue from the its record setting numbers it posted in Q3 of 2011.

HTC is projecting that its revenue from Q4 will drop to NT$60 billion ($2.05 billion) while profits could be reduced to a frightening $20 million. What makes the situation even more dire is HTC’s $1.7 billion is cash reserves. Yes, it’s hard to feel bad for a company that has nearly $2 billion is cash, but that pile of money is significantly lower than the $3.6 billion HTC had in the bank just twelve short months ago.

Fasten your seat-belts ladies and gentlemen. We’re expecting some turbulence ahead.

  1. HTC need to face the user. What could be the sale, if a lot of people just will not be able to use a smartphone? 8 and 16 GB (non-expansion) will last only the most undemanding users. Setting higher capacity batteries in smartphones – the need. I would like to just put the HTC smartphones in large capacity battery (more than 2500 mah). In the most powerful smartphones 3000 mah. People will see it, and pay attention. Members are asked to removable battery – perhaps HTC correct, and is non-removable battery is better, but consumers think differently. There are many ardent supporters removable battery, this is a fact..

  2. I want to buy a smartphone from HTC. I previously had a simple phone … I compared the smartphones of different companies, a lot of reading. And i came to the conclusion that my smartphone is important: quality of materials, high-quality display (not PenTile, and Amoled – technology SuperLCD much better), usability (HTC Sense better shell of those that I’ve seen on YouTube), sound quality (Beats Audio – one of the reasons that I want to buy HTC). This strengths HTC.

I am interested in a smart phone with a fresh software (why buy the old?):
Desire C – too small, stripped-down version of Sense, a bad camera, small screen (in general, I see that the phone is interesting for people. But I need more)
Desire V – on numerous reviews – weak phone. Brake… 2 sim cards – is +. But otherwise is not good enough.
One V – strange design, and little RAM. People talk about the brakes phone. Not interesting.
Desire X – not a bad smartphone. There is opportunity to expand the memory, has a nice design, fast enough. 4 inch screen – not small. Phone is comfortable to hold in hand. Among the shortcomings – not reliable back cover. The camera can not write video in HD (for me does not matter.) But the phone can not play the video in HD – this is a very big disadvantage. This is the only thing that turns me off from buying.
One S – according to many – the best music smartphone on the market right now (the sound quality is better than One X). But annoying screen with PenTile (I see this ladder), and a modest 16 GB to record data (collection of music, games… And if you use the camera and video recording?). Sorry, but no good.
One X – really not a bad phone, 32GB may be enough, but a weak battery… But I do not have enough money on it: (

Smartphones are not bad, each has strengths and weaknesses…. But I was not completely satisfied with one …..

Although .. There is one .. One VX (quality screen, 8 GB of memory + MicroSD (!!!!), Not a bad design. All you need is. Weak battery may… (but close my eyes on the battery))
One problem – it is not sold in my country :(((

In the end, what to buy myself for my birthday?

I think that people who are interested in products of HTC – a lot! But when they look at the lack of a memory card slot, a weak battery (and non-removable) – they pass by….
