HTC revenue for August drops 4 percent from July – expected to get a huge boost in September

Last week, HTC reported that its unaudited revenue for August came in at $804 million, nearly a four percent drop from July’s $835 million in revenue. While the decline in revenue may sound like HTC may be fizzling out, the company is still profitable and there are signs that things could soon turn around.

According to SinoPac Securities Investment Service, HTC’s revenue for September is expected to bounce back with a 25% increase, which means HTC’s revenues for the month could exceed $1 billion. There’s no guarantee that HTC will actually hit those numbers, but the research company has high hopes for the recently announced HTC J and the wave of new phones hitting the Chinese market.

Unfortunately, a September surge will not be enough to pull HTC’s Q3 profits up to match the record settings $4.5 billion in revenue that the company posted in Q3 of 2011. In Q3 of 2011, HTC managed to ship 13.2 million units across the globe, marking a 93% growth over the same quarter in 2010.

With more than a half dozen rumored devices in the works, we have a feeling that Q4 will be a much different story for HTC. How long do you think it will take HTC to turn things around so that they can start reporting some positive monthly or quarterly revenue numbers?

  1. Would like to contribute to HTC’s success, but as long as I do not see an successor for the T-Mobile G2 with QWERTY keyborad, I will have to seriously consider the Samsung Relay 4G (now that it has been clarified that it has the Snapdragon S4). PLEASE HTC do not let me buy a Samsung phone ;-( !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
