Windows Phone fans get your wallets ready for an October release of two HTC phones, code-named Rio and Accord! The source listed below has reason to believe these two Windows Phone 8 handsets will debut in either London or New York during the third week of September with the expectation to hit store shelves in October. This information does seem to coincide with the launch and sales speculation for the first Windows Phone 8 Nokia handsets.
Rumor has it that there are three HTC Windows Phone 8 devices, but only the Rio and Accord are being called onto the stage at this time and it sounds like each phone will target a different user level than the other (ex. entry-level, mid-range, and high-end). Specs for the rumored HTC smartphones include:
HTC Rio (entry-level)
- 4″ WVGA display @ 480 x 800 pixels
- 5 MP rear camera with 720p video recording
- 512 MB or RAM
- 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor
HTC Accord (mid-range)
- 4.3″ Super LCD 2 display
- 8 MP rear camera with 1080p video recording
- 1 GB RAM
- 1.5 – 1.7 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor
- NFC
Most people are really caught up in the multi-core craze in the Android world right now, but please take into consideration that Microsoft has focused on the development of the Windows Phone operating system for single and now dual-core processors. In other words, the OS has been optimized for these types of processors and take full advantage of the power within these chips.
