The mid-range HTC One V may be getting a spec bump this fall. According to the latest rumors, a device known as the HTC Proto is making the rounds with a 4-inch WVGA display, 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm S4 processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and a 5MP camera.
The only differences between the HTC One V and the HTC Proto would be the screen size and the processor. The HTC One V is an incredible mid-raged device, but its single-core 1GHz S2 processor leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to gaming and web browsing. A slightly larger screen with a processor which can burn through 3D graphics 2-3 time faster may be exactly what HTC needs to please those who are not willing to spend the extra cash to get their hands on a high-end device.
We’re not sure if the HTC Proto will be fitted with a uni-body aluminum shell like the HTC One V, but word on the street is that the device will be 9.62mm thin. The HTC Proto will most likely be unveiled around the same time as the HTC One X+ and HTC’s upcoming phablet.
