While yesterday’s news about HTC’s plans to reduce handset prices was well received by the technology community, HTC released a statement to set the record straight on one aspect of the rumor. As it turns out, HTC has no plans to cut Beat Audio technology from its phones any time soon, leaving the company with fewer options when looking to reduce the price of their handsets for consumers.
There are those who are not keen on HTC’s integration of Beats Audio and then there’s the general public who always like name brand tie-ins which they perceive has having added value. No one can deny that Beats Audio is currently the most recognized brand in high-end headphones – even if they do not have the best sound.
Honestly, we think HTC could do a lot more with their partnership with Beats. We’re sure general consumers would flock to a Beats Audio designed and branded HTC device. Push it as an audio-centric device with free MOG service for a year and throw in a pair of Beats Audio headphones and you’ll have a branded device which could rival the iPhone. It’s something HTC wouldn’t be too fond of, but we definitely think it’s worth a try.
HTC remains strongly committed to Beats Audio and including their innovation in our devices. Any rumor of HTC no longer integrating Beats Audio into our devices is categorically false.
