The HTC Rezound has been highlighted to receive Android 4.0 since February and an official ROM was leaked in March, but as of today there is still no official release for customers on the Verizon Wireless network.
A DroidLife tipster says that an HTC support tech sent him a note stating the HTC Rezound is due to receive Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) as early as the end of July. The note mentions that the update should roll out at the end of July, but will not hit all Rezound customers until sometime in August depending on location and other factors. Here’s the quoted note as posted on DroidLife, linked at the beginning of this paragraph and at the bottom of this article.
Dear Andrew S,
Thank you for contacting HTC regarding the Android 4.0 update. I understand that you are excited to receive the update for your HTC Rezound. I will be happy to share the information I have with you.
The ICS (Android 4.0) update will be released for the Rezound by the end of this month (July) with final pushes in August. Due to localization, testing, and partner approvals, updates do not roll out to all devices at the same time. For devices on a wide variety of carriers and in many countries, rollouts can take up to 45 days from the initial update to reach everyone. It’s almost here, Andrew! We are as excited as you are. I hope you enjoy the rest of your week!

Want to see what others are saying? Have a question to ask other HTC fans?
We are not sure why it has taken so long for the HTC Rezound to see the Ice Cream Sandwich update considering this device was released so close to the original Android 4.0 announcement; making it a popular candidate and HTC phones on other major US carriers received the update months back. Users have sounded off in forums and sites all over the web that the leaked ROM from March worked fine the way it was. I guess only HTC and Verizon Wireless are the ones that truly know the answer.
Do you think phones worthy of receiving ICS are eligible/qualified to receive the newer Android version, Jelly Bean or should customers be happy enough just to get ICS and look to the community for JB support or just upgrade to a newer device?

I think that Jellybean might as well be released instead of ICS but that makes too much sense for Verizon. I have the Tbolt and am STILL waiting for my ICS update. Your earlier article about Verizon’s personal issues with HTC isn’t too much of a shock. It’s sad but hey, apparently they all have this figured out (insert sarcasm).
this is a fake…
don’t believe it.
