During HTC’s 15 year anniversary party, Cher Wang announced that HTC will be going on the offensive with its persuit of patents in order to give the company a fighting chance to compete with companies like Apple and Samsung. “We will apply for patents in different fields, and we will also purchase different kinds of patents, such as those owned by S3 Graphics Co.”
HTC has not had much luck when battling things out with Apple in U.S courts, but that does not mean they are simply going to give up the war. “Apple is a company with ‘big muscle’ and is famous worldwide,” Wang said. “In the U.S. particularly, it will be able to stop us by all means. This is our challenge.”
It’s hard to say what patents HTC will be persuing, but it should be clear that they will not stand by while Apple tries to bully them out of the U.S. market.
