The specifications for a new HTC smartphone have leaked and it looks to possibly be a lower powered sibling of the One S. According to the above image acquired by the team over at Brief Mobile, this new HTC handset is named the HTC Ville C, and has specifications very similar to the HTC One S. The primary difference being a 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8260 S3 dual-core processor instead of the 1.5GHz MSM8260A S4 chip that is standard on the HTC One S. The image shows a 1.7GHz processor on the device, but the originating source indicated that it is a typo and the HTC Ville C will indeed be powered with a 1.2GHz processor.
The HTC Ville C will ship with a 4.3″ AMOLED qHD screen, 16GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera and a VGA front camera. The software onboard looks to be consistent with other new phones and will arrive carrying Android 4.0. Something I find interesting is that it will run under HTC sense 4.5 and not 4.0. Hopefully, HTC will introduce us to Sense 4.5 in the near future. Inside the HTC Ville C, you will find a 1,650 mAh battery, but it is still unclear if the battery can be removed.
Do you think an additional “HTC One” device on the market is a smart move by HTC, or will it only serve to cloud consumers’ understanding of what phone they should buy?
