HTC Car StereoClip now available at Sprint for $59.99

Sprint is now selling the HTC Car StereoClip.  This wireless adaptor plugs into any 3.5mm headphone jack and allows you to stream music from any HTC Bluetooth-enabled device.  While this functionality already exists with many devices, the included aptX codec promises a higher quality audio experience.   Owners of the HTC One X and other HTC devices have the added ability of automatic Bluetooth pairing.  The Car StereoClip uses an 85 mAh battery which charges via microUSB and should provide around 5 hours of continuous audio streaming.  HTC includes a power-saving function that cuts power when there is no audio stream detected,  allowing 120 hours of standby time on the device.  The HTC Car StereoClip currently retails for $59.99 on Sprint and AT&T is also expected to release this device soon.

This sounds great, but I’m not sure how well it will sell.  In my experience, I’ve been satisfied streaming via standard Bluetooth and don’t see the need to purchase this device.  However, I’m likely in the minority because audio quality isn’t a high priority to me as I typically listen to podcasts more than music.  What are your thoughts?  Does this device interest you or are you currently happy with your existing audio configuration?

  1. I’m planning on buying this tonight. I currently use a 3.5 millimeter headphone cable to connect my phone to my car stereo since I do not have built in bluetooth.
