Telstra shows up HTC Velocity 4G

Telstra is going to launch his first 4G smartphone in partnership with HTC. For people who don’t know, Telstra is an Australian company for fixed and mobile telecommunications, business services and cable TV. While 4G may be a standard requirement now for high-end phones in the U.S. market,  Telstra is making waves in the news because the HTC Velocity 4G will be the first 4G LTE smartphone in Australia.

In recent weeks you’ve probably heard of the HTC Vivid. Most specifically, we’re sure most of your remember the the issue that a well known pornography site had the the name of the Vivid. The HTC Velocity 4G that Telstra is looking to launch will most likely be identical to the HTC Vivid but may sport a slightly different look for our friend over in Australia.

With its Qualcomm dual-core processor (1.5GHz), Velocity 4G runs fast, very fast! Not for nothing if we can read above “Be the fastest, be the first”. With this phone you will enjoy all features from Sense 3.5 on a 4.5″ display (qHD), an 8 MP rear camera with 1080p video recording at 60fps, 1.3 MP front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, 1620 mAh removable battery,  and 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 52GB with a microSD card. For now, the HTC Velocity will be running on Android 2.3.7 (Gingerbread), but we expect the device will be updated in Android 4.0 later this year.

An exact launch date for the HTC Velocity 4G isn’t yet available, but some are speculating that the device will launch on Telstra’s 4G network by the end of January. Are any of our Australian readers ready to enjoy 4G speeds with the new HTC Velocity 4G?
