WP7.5 bug locking can lock you out of your messaging services

A new bug in Windows Phone 7 Mango has been discovered which could completely shut your out of the phone’s messaging services. Khaled Salameh reported to Winrumors that the messaging service on Windows Phone gets locked up after the phone receives a specific SMS. After the message is received, users are no longer able to send, receive, and ever read their messages and the only way to fix the issue is to do a factory reset on the device.

The bug also affects the Facebook Live tile if one of your friends posts a specific message as their status update. Fortunately, you can easily remove the live tile from your start screen without having to reset your phone.

Microsoft has been notified about the issue, but there’s no word on when a system update will be pushed out to WP7.5 users in order to fix the bug.  If you notice any issues with your messaging service on your Windows Phone device, let us know.  You can always reset your phone to get things running again, but we know how much of a pain that can be. Check out the video below to see the bug in action.
