It’s a bit odd when we post more than one of these stories in a week, but it looks like we were a bit misinformed when we reported that HTC has released the source for all of their Android phones. Since the HTC Dev team didn’t want to make liars out of us, they went ahead and released the source for the various versions of the HTC Kingdom (HTC EVO Design 4G and HTC Hero S). After doing some double checking, we can confidently say that HTC is finally GPL-compliant.
The general public doesn’t really gain anything when HTC releases the source code for their phones, but to developers it’s almost as valuable as gold. Now that the code is available, we should see development pick up for the HTC Kingdom. It may not be as cutting edge as the HTC Amaze 4G of the HTC Rezound, but the HTC EVO Design we played with a while back was the best $39 phone we’ve ever used.

As I pointed out here, it’s not quite GPL compliance until they’re releasing source codes the same day as phones. But yes, definitely something to be congratulated.
Good to know. I was under the impression that they simply had to release the source within 90 days of the handset launch date.
what about the htc desire z , is that getting the unlocker , and also will it be getting a new update , if you can let me know .
