HTC’s official Q3 numbers are in and it looks like they have delivered on everything they promised. Revenue for the quarter was up 79% over last year, reaching NT$135.8bn with Net Income growing to NT$18.68bn, up 68% year over year. In Q3, HTC managed to ship 13.2 million units across the globe marking a 93% growth over the same quarter last year.
Some of the other key accomplishments that HTC has highlighted in the Q3 overview include the acquisition and integration of Beats Audio which they expect will “create emotional connection with the HTC brand through studio-quality music experience and Beats brand image.” Other notable acquisitions which you may not have been aware of include Dashwire and its cloud based sync systems and Zoodles which offers a distinctive kid’s mode for handsets and tablets.
One of the things that surprised us the most in HTC’s report is that the HTC Wildfire was one of HTC’s top selling products. The Entry-level Android phone launched in European and the U.S. markets at an incredibly now price with limited features, but it’s allowed HTC to make inroads into a different market segment which HTC has typically not been active in.
HTC expects Q4 of this year to deliver 20-30% growth year over year with handset shipments to total between 12-13 million units. Early next year, HTC is expecting to open its new factory in Taoyuan which has a maximum yearly capacity of 40 million units.
HTC’s global sales trail competitors like Apple and Samsung, but HTC’s acquisitions and infrastructure investments have given the company a strong position to continue its rapid growth for the next few years.
