HTC Explorer press shot and specs revealed

In less than an hour, HTC is expected to officially announce a handful of new phones destined for the U.S. market.  Until then we’ll have to make do with some new details regarding the HTC Pico.  The entry level Android phone now has an official press shot and will most likely launch under the name HTC Explorer.  The HTC Explorer specs should include a 600MHz processor, 3.2-inch HVGA display, 384MB RAM 512MB ROM and a 5 megapixel rear camera.

There’s no question in our mind that most of you will probably not event give the HTC Explorer a second look if you spotted it in a store, but the low-end specs should do a great job of keeping the handset’s price down.  While many of us can justify paying $199 for a new phone on a two year contract, there are still a lot of bargain hunters who can’t seem to pull themselves away from devices within the “free” category.

The release date for the HTC Explorer is still unknown, but now that we have an official press shot for the device, it shouldn’t be too long before the Explorer finds its way into retail stores.
