So for those of you who own a Thunderbolt, you may have noticed an update was pushed to your phone over the last few days. This update addresses the random reboots that some users have been experiencing, along with the data connectivity issues reported by some people. It also adds a few other things, namely Verizon’s proprietary apps (My Verizon, V Cast Music, V Cast Video).
However, this update also killed the free wireless hotspot feature that Verizon had been advertising as a special feature on the Thunderbolt, Droid Charge, and LG Revolution. It’s a bit on the sketchy side, since you can either update and rid yourself of the random reboots, or choose not to update to keep the feature, at the cost of still having the reboot issues.
The UK Desire will be receiving an update to Gingerbread soon, by the end of the month. The update will hit unlocked phones first, and carrier-branded phones will be up after that.
The Desire Z will also be receiving a Gingerbread update by the end of the month. No word yet on an update for the G2, but you can probably take this as a sign that it is in the works.
