Those of you who keep track of HTC handset code names probably recall the HTC Ruby. Earlier this year, the name was floating around and often associated with the HTC Arrive which was the first Windows Phone 7 device to launch on Sprint. Since then, the HTC Ruby name has seemingly disappeared; until late last night when a new Flickr gallery went online with images taken by the HTC Ruby. The images themselves don’t do much to solve the mystery about the HTC Ruby, but we are certainly intrigued by what’s been captured in the pictures.
At first glance, it looks like someone simply used the HTC Ruby to snap a few pictures of the HTC Flyer in one of their production labs. But if you looks a little closer, you’ll notice that a mysterious HTC handset in present in the reflection of the HTC Flyer’s screen. The reflection reveals the back side of a white HTC phone with a camera, dual-LED flash. Since the pictures do not show off the front of the device, we’re not exactly sure if the phone will be running Android or Windows Phone.
With the launch of Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) right around the corner, it would be easy to assume that this mystery device could be running Microsoft’s latest mobile OS. But we’re not so sure. The back side of the phone looks to be a cross between the HTC Sensation and the myTouch 4G, so our guess its that this mystery phone will be running Android. HTC’s been pushing out Android phones like there’s no tomorrow and it doesn’t look like they will be slowing down any time soon.
Some are suggesting that the mystery phone is the HTC Ruby. While this is totally possible, we’re not willing putting any money on that bet just yet. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more details about this phone or even the HTC Ruby in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
