We know a lot of you have been coming to our site, hoping to find out how to root the HTC Sensation. HTC is still planning on rolling out an update to the Sensation which will unlock the phone’s bootloader, but if you want to tinker with some of the things the development community has been playing around with, we’re put together a little cheat sheet for you so that you don’t have to spend too much of your time looking around for the right solution. Most current solutions only give you temporary root access on the HTC Sensation, but we guess that’s better than nothing. Remember, rooting (or attempting to root) your phone can be a very dangerous and tricky affair which should done lightheartedly.
Permroot for S-OFF Sensation: If you happen to be one of the lucky few to have an HTC Sensation with S-OFF, crackeye has put together an 8 step process which should give you permanent root on your HTC Sensation. > Read more
Fre3vo / Fre3dom HTC Sensation temp-root: The Fre3vo temp-root method requires adb and a bit of patience. Once you have successfully run through the process, you should have temporary root access on your HTC Sensation which will last until you reboot your device. > Read more
Sensation Temp Root with Overclock: The title says it all. Get temporary root access on your Sensation and overclock the dual-core Qualcommm Snapdragon at the same time. > Read more
Easy Fre3vo w/ Perma-Temp & Bloatware Disabler: Based off the Fre3vo listed above with a slightly easier process. Temp root is always nice when you can remove bloatware from your phone. > Read more
The four resources listed above are only a few of the many rooting options that the development community has come up with. We’d suggest checking out the HTC Sensation development thread on XDA-Developers for all the latest details. We’re hoping the development community can come up with a permanent root solution by the time HTC releases the unlocked bootloader for the HTC Sensation.
