Android Community have posted that the Desire HD and Incredible S, have started to receive an over the air update to Gingerbread, well at least in Europe, as confirmed by HTC. Bringing the slightly older HTC devices up to spec with the latest released phones, like the Desire S. There’s not a lot of information on the process at the moment, although HTC advise you backup thoroughly. Not clear at this point if this will perform a full wipe of the phone.
Your phone will receive a notification of FOTA update when it is made available. Simply press OK to accept the update via a data connection such as Wi-Fi or GPRS/3G. After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Build number (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software Information> Software number). The new Build number after the update will be 2.36.405.5. Update: Android 2.3 upgrade. Note:Please back up your data first before upgrading your phone. We recommend using a free Wi-Fi hotspot or an unlimited data plan to apply this update. If not, standard data connection charges may apply. I wonder how long it’ll take for Htc Inspire users (at&t; clone of desire hd) to receive this update since its out now for the desire…(?)
Hyun, hopefully this will open the floodgates, but as always, carrier customisation is what holds these things up the most.
I had purchased Incredible S and it is in warrant period. ROM 2.2FROYO.This has been upgraded to ROM 2.3.3 ON 29MAY11. DUE TO WHICH I AM FACING PROBLEM. I CANNOT DO VIDEO CALLING BY USING FRING OR VTOK. MY IMAGE IS SHOWN INVERTED IN THE RECIPIENT MOB . THIS WAS NOT SO WHEN USING 2.2FROYO. I HAVE GONE THROUGH THE PROCESS OF FACTORY RESET BUT THE PROBLEM IS NOT SOLVED,PLEASE REVERT BACK TO 2.2 . I am using Fring by making use of Wifi. My own image is seen at 90degrees on own mob screen. HTC should do something about this OR else revert back to 2.2 froyo.
how much it will charge for standard data connection to upgrade the system 2.05.707.1(24.67MB)?
