We are all aware now, about leaked ROMs for the HTC Sensation, and now there is a build for the G2/Desire Z, and Joe Levi over at PocketNow has taken an in depth look at it. It’s not fully functional, and it is recommended that you backup your device with Rom Manager or Titanium backup before you try this out on your own device. Of course the main event is getting a look at the new Sense 3D interface, although the lower resolution of older devices doesn’t play nice with the higher, qHD resolution of the Rom. It’s surprising how quickly Developers are getting the Sense 3.0 UI onto other/older phones, but flash this ROM at your own risk, it requires a full wipe of your phone.
Notes about the changes:
– Full wipe of data is REQUIRED prior installing the ROM.
– /system/app relocated to /data/system.app and symlinked back (to make it fit).
– Uses select libs/bins from the Gingerbread leak for G2/DZ (2.30.405.1)
– Kernel 2.6.35.10 from the Gingerbread leak for G2/DZ.
– Added my modded Superuser.
– Removed HTC’s Lockscreen (you simply cannot unlock with it in place).
If you want to try this out you will have to have rooted your device, and I reiterate, it is only for playing with at the moment, do not flash if you are a novice user. Obviously we all want the latest and greatest, but this may not be it unless you have a very up to date Android device. Check the video below…
