HTC Mazaa, leaked new Windows Phone from HTC?

A new Windows Phone device graced the front page of XDADevelopers today, the Mazaa. Curious name, and the only reference I could find that was similar referred to a fruity mango flavoured Coca Cola, or it could even be a mash up of music/movie and bazaar, which may elude to an entertainment focused device.

Details are scarce, to say the least, looking at the images, the now familiar HTC form factor is there, although it’s not unibody, the rear appears to be plastic, like the HTC Desire, and it appears to be of the same size. That would mean a 3.7inch display. The images come from an anonymous tipster, and parts of the front facing image, are blacked out, hiding what, carrier branding, new features?

Having said that, our source mentioned that it may be loaded with DDR2, but wasn’t sure and that it is coming to Sprint within the next 6 months. Also, one last interesting detail is that there seems to be an IMEI number on the device itself, which means GSM capabilities. So, we could very well be looking at the first Windows Phone 7 world phone. There was no mention on whether this device will include gyroscope capabilities or not, but one can only hope.

All this hints at a phone that may be ready for the Mango update later this year, and with news that a new, upcoming Windows Phone from LG, may ship with the Mango update preinstalled, it seems to fit into the road plan. Microsoft have refined their chassis specification for future Windows Phones, in line with what current chipsets [hardware] can do.

we’ve been expecting a change to Microsoft’s chassis specs for Windows phone devices, authorizing the use of an 800MHz processor like the Ignite’s. This week at MIX, Microsoft has revealed one such new spec profile, featuring support for lower-speed chips, implementing the new sensor we heard about, and running a higher-performance graphics accelerator.via PocketNow

With the speed that the hardware evolves, when this new batch of Mango devices hit the market, they will be out dated. Hi res images of the Mazaa above and below.
