This is just a rumour for the moment, but it does raise hopes in terms of the improvements it may bring to the ailing Thunderbolts battery dilemma. A post over at Android Community today cites and email response that a Thunderbolt user, a little miffed over his bad Bluetooth connectivity, got from HTC. What was the response? “We are excited to announce that the Thunderbolt will receive the Gingerbread update in Q2 2011. Stay tuned for details as we get closer to the update availability.”
The second quarter of 2011, for GingerBread to roll out to the Thunderbolt, which may be a good thing considering the improvements in power management that it should bring to the handset. On the off chance that HTC Support would offer information about it’s device update timeline to a disgruntled user, it seems timely considering the bad press the device has been getting for all the wrong reasons.
While a lot of people may like to cling to a bit of info like this, in the hope that the dissatisfaction they are feeling with the device, will be alleviated with an OS update, it is a random bit of information that is unverifiable, as no direct source is quoted in the initial post. What does that mean? “Don’t hold your breath!”
