It’s official, the Verizon HTC Thunderbolt will be launching on March 17th for $249. The news is a little bitter sweet since we’ve seen countless rumored launch dates come and go, but we’re ecstatic at finally getting an official launch date and price for the first 4G LTE enabled handset on Verizon’s network. The launch of the HTC Thunderbolt comes a little over three months after it was initially announced at CES, but we don’t think anyone will be complaining once they start pulling down data from Verizon’s LTE network at mind bending speeds. From what we can gather, Skype with video calling is not yet available, but HTC Thunderbolt owners will be the very first to be able to use voice and data over Verizon’s CDMA network.
The price for the HTC Thunderbolt has been set at $249.99 with a two year contract. Verizon will also be tacking on their mandatory unlimited 4G LTE data plan which runs at $29.99 per month. Anyone who purchases the HTC Thunderbolt will also get free access to the device’s Mobile Hotspot capabilities until May 15. After that, users will need to shell out an additional $20 a long for 2 GB of Hotspot data.
Now that the wait is finally over, how many of you are planning on getting the first HTC’s first 4G LTE handset from Verizon?
