Android 2.2.1 is finally making its way onto the Vodafone HTC Magic in the UK. Vodafone made the announcement of the OTA update on their support forums yesterday, detailing some of the new features and functionality which will be coming to the HTC Magic. If you still own the Magic, expect two separate update notifications to hit your handset within the next few weeks. The first update will simply install a new bootloader while the second update will deliver the Android 2.2.1 firmware. We know Google’s just announced Android 2.3, but it’s encouraging to see that is still dishing out Google’s desert treats to a handset that’s been on the market for over 20 months.
Android 2.2.1 will give customers a number of improvements including: latest Gmail and Android Market clients; ability to save applications directly onto an SD card; support for USB tethering so the phone can be used as a modem; improved support for Active Sync Exchange (email, contacts and calendar sync); enhancements to Bluetooth; and enhancements to the camera. The update also includes the latest Google security patches.

HELP!!! I have HTC MAGIC VODAFONE 32B. I was charging it yesterday while connected to a WIFI. didn,t notice that a certain software was downloaded and I accidentally press something, didn’t know what it is. after the update my phone restarted and the a new interface appeared. i was amazed cause its so nice but a few minutes, i decided to take pictures and to my surprise my camera is not working. can’t even open my gallery., always saying “loading new photos and albums” then will show “forced close” did a hard reset but nothing happened. please help me. Or can they again send the same software via OTA, it might just fix the problem once I re-run the update or if you have a certain link of the updates and the step by step process on this. Im currently here in the Philippines. Your response will be highly appreciated.
