We take one day off and the whole world blows up! OK, maybe not the whole world, but if you’re been looking for news on the upcoming HTC Mecha (aka the DROID Incredible HD or the DROID Thunderbolt) you certainly will not be disappointed.
The first bit of news to hit the web was a collection of close-up shorts of the HTC Mecha. The images don’t reveal anything new about the handset, though it is believed that this was a controlled leak by HTC to generate some additional buzz. The second story about the HTC Mecha simply showed off the new image of the handsets screen (sporting HTC Sense of course) which indicated that the handset features support for a 4G network. Since the Mecha, DROID Incredible HD, or the DROID Thunderbolt (do we have enough names for this handset yet) is heading to Verizon, it could be the very first handset in the U.S. to feature support for LTE.
Finally, HTC put up an image on their website which features a cloth draped over a handset and text which reads “The first to 4G, again.” OK, we get it. HTC is launching a 4G handset on Verizon. We’re keeping out fringers crossed, hoping we’ll actually get to see this new 4G handset as CES in a few weeks. Verizon is hosting an event during the show and is expected to unveil nearly a half dozen 4G handsets.
If you’ve been waiting for a 4G phone on Big Red, the time is almost here!
