HTC has started pushing out a new OTA update for the HTC Desire. No, you will not be getting Gingerbread or anything fancy like that, but the maintenance update should fix a few bugs here and there and there are reports of improved speeds while surfing the web. If the update has not yet pinged your HTC Desire, head on over to Settings > About Phone > system software update and press the “Check now” button.
The new update (v2.29.405.2) is a 28.87MB file which requires 25MB of free internal memory in order to install. While it would be nice to jump on the Gingerbread bandwagon (as soon as Google gets around to releasing it to the public), it’s nice to see HTC working hard to make sure their handsets work as good as possible on the current generation of Android.
