Verizon seems finally ready to officially unveil the HTC DROID Merge to the world. Our friends over tat Verizon have started sending out invitations to a party on November 18th at which they will be unveiling the HTC DROID Merge World phone as well as re-launching the HTC DROID Incredible.
For those of you with a short memory, the HTC DROID Merge is a simplified version of the HTC Desire Z. The DROID Merge features most of the same specifications as the Desire Z, but has traded in the unique Z hinge mechanism for a simple sliding screen. On the software side, the DROID Merge also runs on Android 2.2, but initial hands-on reports state that it is running on the older version of HTC Sense.
While, we’re excited that Verizon will finally be unveiling the HTC DROID Merge to the world, we’re equally intrigued by the fact that they will also be re-launching the HTC DROID Incredible. The launch of the Incredible got off to a bad start late last spring due to screen supply issues. It seems a bit odd that Verizon would want to re-launch the DROID Incredible nearly seven months after it was initially made available. Our hope is that the re-launch of the Incredible actually refers to the introduction of the HTC DROID Incredible HD. Why focus on an older handset when you have a new handset in your arsenal which could blow the competition out of the water?
