Next week, the Verizon DROID Incredible will be receiving a maintenance update which will include Verizon’s V CAST Apps Store. We’ve been hearing rumors about the V CAST store for quite some time and it looks like the DROID Incredible will have the “privilege” of being the first Android phone in Verizon to receive the new store. We’re honestly not sure why Verizon is getting into the app market game or even why users would choose a slimmed down V CAST store over the official Android Market. The last thing most Android users want is more applications on their phone that they can’t get rid of.
Since we have not seen what the V CAST Apps Store looks like or know exactly what it has to offer, it’s a bit early for us to judge. If it does offer a huge improvement over the official Android Market, let’s hope Google pays close attention and implements some changes to stay ahead of the competition.
Are any of you looking forward to what the Verizon V CAST Apps store has to offer?
Verizon Wireless will begin pushing a software update to the DROID Incredible next week. The update includes software enhancements that will pre-install V CAST Apps on the phone. We said earlier this year that we’d be expanding V CAST Apps to the Android platform, and the DROID Incredible is the first Android phone with the store. Developers continue to submit apps, and as a reminder, V CAST Apps allows carrier billing, so customers who purchase applications through our store will see those charges on their monthly bill. For more information about the update customers can go to www.verizonwireless.com/droidincrediblesupport.

I suppose it could be a good thing for some app developers. For example, Swype could code directly for Verizon phones and do a phased, controlled rollout before expanding into other carriers.
Or Verizon could shit all over it and roll out a useless piece of bloatware that I never use.
Thank FSM for root.
I think Verizon is going to use the store more for their own purposes so they can have more control over the revenue stream.
@phillyscreamo the Android Market currently allows developers to target specific carriers or devices. You’ll notice that apps like Qik only feature video calling for specific phones.
