It’s no secret that Sprint and Verizon were going to be late to the Windows Phone 7 game due to Microsoft’s decision to postpone CDMA integration into the new platform, but we may see a WP7 CDMA device sooner than we expected. Microsoft has been a little coy about when CDMA support would be integrated into WP7, only sharing that it would be available during the first half of 2011. The time frame is vague, but a new FCC sighting gives us hope that it could be three to four months away.
New FCC documents indicate that a WP7 CDMA device form HTC has been approved for operation within North America. Since the only CDMA device included in HTC’s Windows Phone 7 lineup was the HTC Pro 7, We’re naturally assuming that the handset approved by the FCC and the HTC Pro 7 are one and the same Since the only CDMA device included in HTC’s Windows Phone 7 lineup.
HTC’s handsets gain FCC approval 2-4 month before they go on sale at a U.S. carrier, which means the HTC Pro 7 launch date could happen any time between early January and late February.
