Just yesterday, we heard that Google has started selling a Nexus One with 3G bands compatible with both At&t and Rogers. Google has not announced any official deals with either of the carriers, but those who really want a Nexus One and want to stick with their current At&t contract can now use the phone to its full potential.
Today, Sprint has announced that they are jumping on the Nexus One bandwagon as well. We’re not sure if this is a “me too” announcement or if Sprint has had something in the works for a while. Since it’s launch back in January, we’ve know that the Nexus One would be making its way onto Verizon sometime in the spring. If a Sprint deal was in the works back then, I’m sure Google and Sprint would have announced it.
HTC has always had a great relationship with all four of the major carriers here in the U.S. market. The HTC Touch Pro2 is offered by all four carriers and the Snap can be found on three. But the Nexus One is a completely different ball game. Rather than HTC and a carrier launching a phone, Google is the one partnering with carriers. We’re not sure what At&t’s commitment to Android is at this point, but I doubt they will want to be left out of the game for long.
