Microsoft press event: introducing Windows Phone 7 Series

If you were thinking that windows Phone 7 would simply be another iteration of the same old Windows Mobile OS, think again.  Microsoft is looking to revolutionize the way you interact with your phone.  We’re covering Microsoft’s event with info from multiple tech blogs.  We’ll be bringing you the most important highlights.

4:15 PM – Windows Phone 7 Series will launch holida season 2010.  We’ve got quite a ways to go people.
4:14 PM – Steve again “Three screens and a cloud. The PC, now mobile. We hope 7 is our lucky number!”
4:10 At&t and Orange talk about their support for the new platform
4:06 PM – Mobile Operator launch partners include: T-Mobile UK, Telefonica, Sprint, Vodafone, Verizon, Orange… and a lot more
4:04 PM – New WP7 handsets will have 4 point multi-touch recognition
4:02 PM – MIcrosoft still planning on partnering with all the big boys: HTC, HP, Qualcomm, Samsung, Toshiba, SONY Ericsson, and eveyone else who has ever made a WM phone in the past.
4:00 PM – Andy Lees to talk about our partnerships
3:55 PM – Microsoft is dedicated to working with development partners for better service integration (Pandora, Facebook) right in the phone without installing additional apps.
3:53 PM – that’s pretty much it.  Microsoft will continue to roll out updates for WM6.5, but most of their focus will be on the new Windows Phone 7 series.  Developers will get a change to see more at MIX next month.
3:48 PM – you can view and manage your account from your handset.  You even get your Live avatar
3:47 PM – Gaming: Microsoft is including access to your XBOX Live account right from your phone.
3:46 PM – To get music on your WP7 series phone, simply use the Zune desktop client to sync
3: 46 PM – Pandora radio integrated directly into the media player
3:45 PM – Media Hub: every Windows Phone 7 series handset will be a Zune
3:41 PM – Office: similar to the other Hubs, Office has the same layout.  It looks like it’s actually not fully functional right now
3:38 PM – Picture Hub: sort through your pictures on your phone and also “what’s new” from all your friends on Faceobok.  You can upload your image right to facebook as well
3:35 PM – People Hub: allows you to view information about your recent contacts, all contacts and view the latest social media updates from all your friends.
3:34 PM – That’s just the main software, now Microsoft is moving into experience HUBS

3:32 PM – Browser is based off of desktop version of IE with many of the same features: tabs, bookmarks, and such
3:28 PM – Bing search locates your handset and shows localized search options
3:26 PM – Showing off a few apps: calendar, maps, browser… multi-touch with pinch-to-zoom
3:22 PM – the home screen featurs tiles that can show playlists, people’s profiles, calendar, and more
3:20 PM – Demo time: new UI looks astonishingly like the Zune HD.  Not bad at all

3:18 PM – New Windows Phone 7 handsets will feature three buttons on the front (Start, search, and back)
3:17 PM – The phone idea behind WP7 is to make a modern phone that fits people’s lives
