At this point, we’re all expecting HTC to unveil at least a few new handsets running Windows Mobile and Android at their press event schedule for next Tuesday. Thanks to HTC’s leaked roadmap for 2010, we have a pretty good idea of what we will see. The next big question that most people will want answered is: where can I buy it? If you’re willing to pay full retail, there will be plenty of options, but most of us can’t fork over that kind of cash for a new handset. Not surprisingly, we have just learned that HTC and O2 will be holding a joint press event on February 17th to unveil one or more new HTC handsets that will be heading to the O2 network.
HTC CEO Peter Chou and O2 UK general manager Steve Alder will both be attending the event along with Qualcomm’s CEO Paul Jacobs. It’s not often that you get three big shots like this in one room, so we’re expecting quite a bit. I think it’s safe to say that 02, HTC, and Qualcomm will be announcing a Snapdragon powered handset, but we’re not exactly sure what it could be. My guess is that the HTC Bravo will be heading to O2 this spring, but )2 may also have plans on picking up the HTC Legend, Photon, or a few other devices as well.
Pocket-lint seems to think that the HTC Scorpion could also be unveiled, though I find that highly doubtful. Everything we’re seen on the HTC Scorpion indicates that it will be launching in the end of 2010. At CES, Qualcomm mentioned to us that their next version of Snapdragon could clock speeds up to 1.3GHz and would be available in mid 2010. The 1.5GHz processor rumored to be in the Scorpion is still quite a few months off.
