Verizon turning the HTC Dragon into the Droid Passion

It’s a little known secret the Snapdragon processor is going to be the main processor of choice for Android and Windows mobile handsets over the next year or so.  The only problem is that until just recently, manufacturers have been slow as putting out new phones equipped with it.  A few weeks ago, HTC revealed the HD2 but many people were hoping for an Android phone with the same processor.  The HTC Dragon supposedly will be sporting the heavy hitting processor and Android and now there is some indication that it will be launching on the Verizon network before the end of the year as the HTC Droid Passion.  Word is that Verizon has been working with HTC to get all their Droid phones to offer the same look and feel so that customers will not be confused.  The Motorola Droid, HTC Droid Eris, and the HTC Droid Passion will all have four buttons located immediately under the screen and may even feature a simple stock Android install (no Sense UI).  You’ll notice in the picture above that the Dragon’s notification bar in the standard white that we have all come to love.

Verizon and HTC still have not made any announcements yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
