ROM dump reveals a new HTC Dragon

HTC has always been known for having some of the most creative code names for their handsets. Different families of phones share names of precious stones while others evoke ancient deities. The HTC Hero was introduced as the protector of HTC’s Android handsets, but now it appears HTC is moving on to something more ferocious, a true villain, the HTC Dragon.

As in ancient times, not much is known about the HTC Dragon. There is some speculation that indicates that the HTC Dragon will be powered by a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor (thus the name), but it’s also been referred to as the “Pet Dragon”. All the information we have comes from a ROM dumb of the Dragon’s Android build over on xda-developers. Currently the only true specs that we can confirm are that the HTC Dragon will have an 800×480 resolution capacitive touch-screen and will be running HTC’s Sense UI on top of Éclair (Android 2.0).

I’m definitely excited to see that HTC is working on yet another Android powered handset already. Don’t forget though that HTC might also be working on three other Android phones (HTC Passion, Desire, and Predator). After the jump there’s a handful of screenshots from the Rom dump, but if you’ve seen Sense UI before, there’s really nothing new.

So, what I’ve got here is a little build we’re referring to as the “Pet Dragon”. It’s highly experimental at the moment…and from what I have noticed after reviewing the build.prop files from this “system dump” of the device I spoke of earlier today…HTC Dragon. (dubbed “Zoom 2″) —> the screen resolution is 800×480…which as you can tell is quite an impressive resolution. Judging from the release keys, it’s also a capacitive touch screen device. Now, having said all this…it IS NOT the HTC Leo, HTC Desire, or Passion. Because this device is in fact operating on the “2.0″ firmware along with the HTC Sense user interface applied for style. So, it’s like an “Eclair Hero”. Lol.

Unzip the packaged files, and enjoy. But again, bare with me…it’s still very “bare bones” and needs a lot of work…but this device is going to be a GAME CHANGER! Perhaps more so than the HTC Leo!
